After having my second child I had stopped working out for a couple of years and was finding it difficult to get myself back to the gym. I found that I was lacking energy and I knew I had to do something about it. It was time that I starting thinking about myself again. I was looking for a gym that would challenge me, motivate me and help me get back on track with my fitness plan. In 2009, I was introduced to Integrity Fitness and since then I haven’t looked back. Integrity Fitness was exactly what I needed. I had finally found a gym that provided me with the intensity, motivation and guidance that I needed to reach my fitness goals. I was attending the one hour boot camp classes 4 to 5days a week and loved every minute of it.
Then, in June of 2015 that all changed for me, I was told that I had cancer. I was diagnosed with Lymphoma Non-Hodgkin’s. LNH is a cancer that is treatable and curable and my oncologists were very positive with my diagnosis. My treatment plan involved six rounds of chemotherapy followed by three weeks of radiation. I really wanted to stay active during my treatment sessions since my doctors had emphasized how fitness could help with your recovery. However, as I got further into my chemotherapy sessions, I was finding it difficult to keep up with the classes. I discussed my concerns with Paul and we decided to take a different approach to my training and with the help of Paul and his amazing staff they put together a personal training program with Sam that kept me active during my chemotherapy. The personal training sessions with Sam was an amazing way to recharge myself both mentally and physically before going in for another round of chemotherapy.
Being able to continue to come to Integrity Fitness while fighting my battle with cancer was my outlet, my safe place, it definitely helped my body stay strong and I believe that it was this fitness program that played a major role in my healing process. I am truly grateful to Paul and his amazing team, their commitment, patience and words of encouragement will never be forgotten. And I am proud to say I am back to attending the one hour boot camp classes on a regular basis again.
